INFORMATION ON MEDICAL CANNABIS
Medical cannabis has been legal in Canada since 2001, but it wasn’t until 2015 that the Quebec Cannabis Registry was created, at the request of the Collège des Médecins, to collect research data on the therapeutic benefits of cannabis. The Registry’s data collection initiative, which spans a 4-year period, is headed by Dr. Mike Ware, the Director of Clinical Research at MUHC’s Alan Edwards Pain Management Unit and an associate professor of family medicine and anaesthesia at McGill University. The study, which had 3,000 participants in August, is now complete. Since September 2018, all doctors can now prescribe without taking part in a research project but by observing certain rules, which we can inform you of.
